City of Los Angeles, Domestic Abuse Response Team
Most victims of domestic never seek help, and those who do seek help typically return to their abuser.  The City of Los Angeles developed the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) to disrupt this cycle of violence by providing timely crisis intervention services.  DART is a collaboration between Los Angeles police officers and community service providers responding, on-scene, to 9-1-1 calls for domestic violence.  In 2015, Mayor Eric Garcetti expanded the program from 10 to all 21 police divisions to provide a more comprehensive and consistent response to domestic violence.  As part of this transition, the Mayor’s Office commissioned Maroon Society to evaluate the expansion, and identify opportunities for improvement.
