A national restaurant chain wanted to understand why Latinos in Los Angeles County were not as receptive to their offering, as they had projected. To explore this question, the company needed a clear profile of Latino residents – who they are, what they value, and how the Company may deliver on what Latino customers need. We conducted focus groups, including visiting Company and Competitor restaurants in Los Angeles, to explore barriers to using the restaurant and what motivates usage. The research was conducted in Spanish and English and yielded insights about consumer attitudes toward the client’s offering and specific changes that would better serve the needs of Latino consumers. This included opportunities to highlight flavor profiles and sandwich names to better align with Latinos in the market.
